The conclusion of the Bryant Park spectacles leaves us praying for warmer days. While we still have a few weeks for it to technically change seasons, and even longer for it to feel like it, we can’t help but dream of the pastels and pleated frocks that swam the runway in prior months. Although when we wake from these hazes, unfortunately, we are blasted with the cold, harsh reality of the – well – cold. And although the snow may seem never ending, we still have our frostbitten hands clutched to our wallets ready to splurge on those shorter hemlines.
Now before we go, too eagerly, to max out our credit cards let’s take a step back (inside) and go over the key players for spring. Trust me, you won’t be out of your winter coat any time soon.
THE COLOR PALETTE
As expected, the colors for spring are much lighter and more vibrant than their predecessors. Don’t nix your blacks and navys just yet though. Instead mix them with the candy colored hues and foil like counterparts that make up the new color palette.

THE TACTILE ELEMENTS
The spring looks borrowed what may seem like winter elements, revamping them to suit the warmer conditions. Besides the unconventional fringe, beading and gems embellished many of the garments, literally taking on a form of their own.

THE PRINTED PATTERNS
The ground is sprinkled in flora every spring, so it only makes sense that we fit in. However, on the contrary, bold urban prints made an equal showing. After all, many of us reside in the concrete jungles.
Mulberry, Marni, Michael Kors, Isabel Marant
Black & White Graphics
Yigal Azrouel, DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg
Prada, Celine, Chanel
THE BITS & PIECES
Darting, pleats, ruffles are all included in what I consider the bits and pieces of clothing. To welcome the warmer months the bits and pieces of the spring trends are light, airy, and a little sporty.
